PESA Cebu Chapter

The Federation of Electrical & Electronics Suppliers & Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (PESA) - Cebu Chapter was organized on November 11, 1989 when Cebu was experiencing massive infrastructure and economic development. This economic situation attracted so many suppliers and manufacturers to come to Cebu to look for business partners to sell and distribute their products and services. Majority of the members of PESA-Manila, anaggrupation of electrical and electronics suppliers and manufacturers have been doing business with their Cebuano counterparts for quite a number of years already.

In 1989, one of PESA-Manila's officers, Mr. Antonio Sy Sr. of Marton Manufacturing Philippines introduced the noble idea to Mr. John Go Tiongtat of Cebu Atlantic Hardware of replicating the success of collaboration among the industry players based on what they had done in Metro Manila. They actively campaigned for the formation of PESA Cebu Chapter among the industry players in Cebu and played a pivotal role in uniting the industry players to promote and protect their business interests.

It can be told that the existence of PESA Cebu Chapter was the product of sheer determination, hard work and perseverance of the two gentlemen of Chinese decent but speak different native tongue; Mr. Antonio Sy, Sr. – a Tagalog and Mr. John Go Tiongtat - a Cebuano. Later on, PESA-Manila through its President, Mr. George Go was invited to come to Cebu to formally assist in the formation of PESA Cebu Chapter as its affiliate. An election of charter officers was held and Mr. John Go Tiongtat emerged as the Founding President of PESA Cebu Chapter. The induction of the Founding Officers was held in 1989 with the presence of PESA-Manila officers headed by Mr. George Go.
