In August of 1948, Jacinto Co, Uy Hoo, and Fernando Chua, met and discussed their vision for a united group that will champion the cause of the Electrical Supply Industry in the country:
- promote cordial relations among industry players such as importers, dealers, suppliers, manufacturers, and government regulators, with a common goal to eliminate cut-throat and unfair business practices;
- promote mutual assistance and cooperation, sustain ethical business practices, and prevent creation of monopolies;
- study and address problems in the industry to advance their common interests;
Armed with this noble desire to organize and improve the electrical supply industry, the initial founders were able to convince industry players to join the group, from a handful of members, the group steadily gained ground and their numbers started to grow.
On December 31, 1948, only a few months after that initial meeting, the official By-Laws & Articles of Incorporation of the Organization was submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission, formally giving birth to the organization we know today as PESA.
Officially renamed in 1998 as the Federation of Electrical and Electronics Suppliers and Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc.; the group is still popularly known by its original acronym, PESA.
PESA has steadily grown into a sustainable organization true to its original mission and vision of uniting the electrical supply community with one voice and one common goal, to improve the quality and the standards of business of every member of the organization.
The PESA headquarters, a four-story commercial building inaugurated on December 9, 1998, located in a Prime Commercial District at the heart of the City of Manila, is a true statement to the hard work and steadfast dedication of the officers and members of the Organization to the Mission & Vision of the group.
Function rooms are available to serve the needs of the organization and its members.
Part of the goal of the Federation is to expand its membership to regional growth areas. PESA Cebu Chapter is the first expansion, and will soon have many other chapters across the archipelago.
Among the many advocacy programs of the Federation is “PESA FIRST!”, a drive to promote awareness of available products and services within the group and its members.
All members are encouraged to solicit services and products from within its membership first prior to sourcing from other outside suppliers.
This effort is to foster increase in business volume within the membership, and to create a spirit of unity and camaraderie within the federation.
